Markland, officially the Republic of Markland (Skadian: Republikken Markland), is a country in Lurandia. Markland has an area of 8,172,401 km², making it the 2nd largest country in the world after neighboring HC2. With a population of 32.8 million as of 2016, it is the ?th most populous country in Lurandia and ??th in the world. It is bordered by Wiseland to the north, the Neptic Ocean to the east, the Notian Ocean to the south, HC1 to the northwest, and HC2 to the west. Markland's capital is Gtatosag, and its largest metropolitan area is Erikstad.

As a whole, Markland is sparsely populated, the majority of its land area being dominated by forest and tundra. Its population is highly urbanized, with over 80 percent of its inhabitants concentrated in large and medium-sized cities, with most people residing north of the country. Markland's climate varies widely across its vast area, ranging from arctic weather in the north, to hot summers in the southern regions, with four distinct seasons.
