Iskhal Togdheer International Airport (IATA: ITAICAO: BITA), (Buurawi: Iskhal Togdheer Garoonka), also known as Togdheer Airport is a major international airport located on the man made island incorporated into Todgheer that serves Iskhal, Hudur, the largest city in Burawa and South Kaftia. It is operated by the Hudur Special Airports Authority and serves as the main hub for Dawati, Dawati Cargo and Kudir. The airport covers an area of 8,443 acres (3,416.7 hectares) of land and features three terminals with a capacity of approximately 115 million passengers per year, four runways and extensive logistics and maintenance facilities. The airport was constructed in 1994 on a man-made island to support the growing needs of aviation in the nation. The airport is only located 10 miles away from the center of Iskhal.

Togdheer Airport is the busiest airport by passenger traffic in Burawa as well as the busiest airport in Kaftia. The airport is also the 8th busiest worldwide with 84.2 million passengers using the airport in 2018, an increase from 2.6 from 2014. The airport is a designated special airport to serve the greater Iskhal-Catina region. Togdheer Airport ranks first as a gateway to international traffic in Burawa.

The airport has international service to all 6 habitable continents in the world. More than 100 airlines operate to over 215 destinations across the globe.

History

Composition

Iskhal Togdheer International Airport covers an area of 8,443 acres (3,416.7 hectares). The airport has 4 terminals with a total of 160 boarding gates, with 150 jet bridge gates (101-175, 201-245, 301-330, 401-410) and 10 airstair/tarmac gates occupy all of terminal 4. In additional to terminals, the airport operates 2 transit hotels and a separate rail connection transportation terminal, known as the Togdheer International Transit Terminal.
